Time of Day
Time of Day Metrics help you understand when during the course of the day users come in or use your app the most. Do most of my users launch the app for the first time before 9AM? Is my app competing with other media options during primetime? Time of Day metrics represents a global view of all time zones relative to the end user. This can help inform when promotions should be launched with the hopes of hitting the largest audience, when the load on your server needs to be most carefully monitored, or when the most optimal window is for any necessary downtime on the back end.
You can find the Time of Day button as a zoom option in the Active Users, New Users, and Sessions view. Viewing Time of Day by New Users will display when all of your new users within the selected time frame first started the app. Active Users (an average) and Sessions (a sum) are not unique to any one hourly time bucket, as users can launch the app multiple times a day. The benchmark percentages represent the distribution of data within a specified category across the 24-hour period.
If you filter this view by your segments you can view time of day usage by your specific criteria. For instance, do males use your apps during different times of the day than females? Are there separate patterns of usage by age range? Likewise, with the Date Filter you can view when a certain cohort of your user base is running your app.
Not all versions of the Flurry SDK track locale information. For instance, any Android SDK previous to 2.1 won't collect location data. The Time of Day metric cannot display without locale data. To ensure you have the latest SDk, click here.
If you have used an older version of the SDK that did not collect location data, the sum of the usage numbers in each hour bucket may not add up to your overall usage total for that time period.

Hourly Metrics give you a more granular view into historical usage, which previously was only broken out by day. Now you can see more accurately when traffic spike occurred from being featured in the AppStore, a substantial press mention, or the explosive viral growth of your app. You can view this by Active Users, New Users, and Sessions. To Access this new feature, simply, look to the left of the “Days” button on the Zoom. You cannot view Hourly Metrics if you’ve selected a time frame of more than 30 days, so you’ll want to user the date filter to select specific windows that you’d like information on. Simply clicking “Last Month” on the drop-down, will show you your most recent hour-by-hour data. It is important to note that Hourly Metrics are in Pacific time.
